Mock Caldecott
Young readers, parents, teachers, and children’s picture book enthusiasts of all ages are encouraged to actively participate in our Mock Caldecott Award Program on Sunday, January 29 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Kathy East will be leading the discussion of titles that can be viewed throughout the month of January in person in our Explore the Caldecott Award: Interactive Learning Room, or online on our YouTube page. While not necessary to view the books ahead of time in order to participate in the Mock Caldecott event, doing so will help you champion your favorite title.
We’re looking for wide participation with as much experience, viewpoints, and appreciations as possible! By the end of the meeting and lively discussion, this mock committee of participants will gain a better understanding of how the Caldecott Medal is chosen, and will then vote on our winner and honor books. The Children’s Place also has a display of previous medal and honor winners available for you to browse and to checkout.
