Meet the Local Author: Carole Sarkan
Join us to meet local children’s author Carole Sarkan on Saturday, July 13 at 2:00 pm in Meeting Room A&B at the Bowling Green Library. Carole is the author of And Candy Smiled, a Caldecott Award nominee, and the sequel, And Candy Lived. This program will feature Carole as she talks about her work as an author, a Q&A, and a book signing.
Carole was a teacher from Bowling Green for 35 years, and currently lives in Grand Rapids, Ohio. Carole comes from a family of artists with her grandparents being professors and song writers and her parents as teachers and musicians. She has always had a passion for writing, music, history, and art. Since the age of six, she always wanted to write children’s books, and in partnership with author Emily Christoff-Flowers, she finally achieved that dream and began writing about her English springer spaniel dog, Candy.
Her newest book, Aunt Mary’s Pottery, is about a potter named Mary Grabill who was an established artist in Florida and made her life creating pottery, despite her issues with arthritis and polio.
No registration is required. For more information, call (419) 352-5050 or email woodref@wcdpl.org.
